Jon, E B Vivian, Pengagon (House) Camborne, Rgds
Relation ?: https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/obi...-obituary.html Closer ? Capt Guy Joseph Vivian, 241054, General List att SOE, Died of Wounds 09/11/43 Look under Lt Calvin OGH https://soeinburma.wordpress.com/the-men-of-soe-burma/ Here we go: Capt David Vivian mentioned https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aung_San obviously turned spook also explains your 'Red Star' Maybe why his name isn't up in lights: https://karencommunityassociation.blogspot.com/ The SOE in Burma wordpress site gives more on him when you go through it. Op Character, Team Otter & Force 136 Parachute insertions: http://kaiserscross.com/304501/586001.html So, OSS & SOE worked hand in hand, even if not, jump from my frame or my op, have my wings touch! Or that is where he went after, hence the skullduggery! Best Regards Last edited by MarkGD; 02-06-18 at 07:10 PM. |

Final comment, you would need to find the family tree to see if this was one and the same guy Major Godfrey Hugh Vivian:
Born: abt 1908 in South Africa, resident at Camborne, Cornwall 1911 aged 3 http://www.specialforcesroh.com/show...ghlight=vivian Shown as Force 136 /SOE with MiD for Far East Rgds Last edited by MarkGD; 04-06-18 at 02:51 PM. |

The cross reference to Camborne - as per the 'return to' label pictured by Jon is perhaps helpful

In the recently published book "The Special Operations Executive in Burma" by Richard Duckett, mention is made of David Vivien, who did not serve with Force 136 and killed by the Burmese Military in February 1950 (pages 18, 190 & 194) and Godfrey Vivien, who did serve with Force 136 (page 194). The only potential evidence and link with a name in the grouping is the return label, if it was always with the grouping, but to another Vivien. Possibly it could be a relative, father, uncle or brother and the only way to check this is using something like "Ancestry". Unfortunately the only way to be 100% sure that this grouping belonged to one of the Vivien's mentioned and was always together, also the authenticity, or otherwise, of the SF Wing, is sound traceability and provenance.

Proof of ownership
Thanks everyone for your support.
I've spoken to the son on 2 occasions of Godfrey Hugh Vivian. Lovely chap. His father didn't talk much about the war. Shame the photo only shows the Far East wing being worn, but lovely provenance. Guess that is another official pattern of SF wing se collectors can add to the list. 20180606_224651.jpg SmartSelect_20180606-224541_Yahoo Mail.jpg Got to love the hobby Regards Jon |

Great to see the portraits Jon - always good to put a face to a name. What an impressive little time capsule.
All the best Mike |
