Default Canadian Airborne Cap Badge

Here is an early issue Cdn Airborne cap Regt badge, note the lugs, most Cdn Airborne cap badges are found with a slider. I would date this cap badge to the late 1960'S early 1970"s.

That is a very odd and unusual badge. The headdress at the time the CAR was formed was the beret with the pocket for sliders. There is no record of there being a lugged badge made, and it would have been contrary to the policy of DND.
Your dates can not be earlier than 1968, when the insignia for the CAR was authorized.

I spoke with an old salt, original member of the post WW2 Airborne and he confirmed that they were first issued with the lugged version. The brass wings on the badge are also not as bright as the later versions, almost the same patina as the WW2 badge.
