Another possible German Helmet - Advice needed.
I decided against the helmet as they could find any markings on the underside of the rim.
This one is also for sale and looks like it has the an embossed air vent - would this make it a M1940? The guy selling it thinks he can make out the following on the right side, close to the edge, about 1 cm from the edge and about 3.5 cm apart a U and H. Does this mean anything to anyone? |

The helmet looks to be orriginal but rather tired, you may be lucky two of the liner band studs are intact these are usually dated stamped in to the metal. They will be very fragile so do not try and bend them.
Also these liner band studs are of german construction had the helmet been used in other Countries these are often changed to accommodate their liners. It is probable your helmets band rotted out,some later" war period bands were made of Compressed card. Hope that helps drop me your email and I will send some images of mine.
