Welcome Home Medal
Hi
Can anyone shed some light on this medal(lion)? Usually purchased by Towns and communities as a gift to those residents who served. Very popular after the WW1 but also after the Boer War. It is not in Brown's book on Canadian Welcome Home Medals (Thanks Ed) but the Cdn War Museum holds a gold one and emedals has a silver one for sale. There is precedence of these privately produced medals being made in various precious and not so precious metals. Normally these type of medals would have the name of the soldier on the reverse. Does anyone recognize the Maker's Mark? Any input appreciated. regards Darrell

Hi Darrell,
I believe that would be one of the several marks used by Roden Brothers of Toronto. See: http://www.925-1000.com/forum/viewto...t=roden#p92491 Trev. |
