I can only imagine the 2nd Bn cloth title is ultra-rare, Gerard. A bit steep for me, though I was watching with interest. Cheers, JT |

Nothing, not even in advanced search world wide.
Annoying now. Marc ***************** Got it, what a palaver that was. Nice badges. Marc

I think once you could search for an item number and if within 3 months of sale the item page would show- now you have to be sure to search as a completed listing. Regards, Paul.

I viewed that on phone, so not the best way to try to determine if genuine - is it a newly developed or scanned photo?

It does seem to be in remarkably good nick. Congrats to the winning bidder though Would the picture be of Pte. William Buckingham, perhaps? VC for 'conspicuous acts of bravery and devotion to duty in rescuing and rendering aid to the wounded whilst exposed to heavy fire, especially at Neuve-Chapelle on 10th and 12th March 1915' https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_Buckingham JT Last edited by Jelly Terror; 30-10-17 at 07:52 AM. |

Maybe who ever owns the VC was desperate for a picture of the recipient?

It is Buckingham, the photo is shown here:
https://www.royalleicestershireregim...lliam-henry-vc Looks like his VC may be at the regimental museum: http://www.vconline.org.uk/william-b...-vc/4586008527 Its interesting to see that at one point he was engaged in recruiting which presumably explains the favours worn on his cap in one photo of him. Maybe whoever owns the VC can afford to pay that kind of money for a modern copy of a photo that pops up on a few sites on the web where any unscrupulous pauper can filch a copy. Or maybe the VC came with the photo.(I am open to correction re. the item sold actually having dry ink, it could well be far older than it appears on my screens). |

Hi,
Has this post been accidentally placed in the Australian section ? If so, can those in charge please move it to it's appropriate location in the British Military Insignia section. Many thanks, Invest
