Default Number of badge makers circa WW1

All,
Its been awhile for me to post on the forum, but anyway, I happened to note KLR's post that there were around 100 badge makers contracted during the WW1 period....! 30 variants of King's badges alone if I read that right?
Would I be correct to assume that relatively few would actually have been producing the whole range of badges that existed, and that some of the smaller makers probably had a fairly limited repertoire of badges they supplied?
Additionally, I find it hard to believe that each and every maker had their own dies. Would it not be possible that some may have obtained dies from other makers?

Yes indeed I acknowledged that it was Ticker who provided this valuable information. I don't know what range makers had but I suspect that CB is right that there were limits.
Sharing dies is another matter - there is some evidence for the 2nd WW period that makers shared dies.
Incidentally, there are contract lists kept by the Ministry of Supply for metal cap badges that lists manufacturers per badge. There is also a similar list of plastic badges. http://www.britishbadgeforum.com/for...ad.php?t=15609
