Default Oman Palace Guards

Can anyone positively identify the attached Omani badge?
I think it is a Palace Guards badge but am unsure where it would be worn.
It's a large badge (I've photographed it between the Guards RSMs badges for scale), that could potentially be worn on a sleeve as a badge of rank, or on the chest, similar to our royal cypher being worn by Yeoman Warders.
Any ideas?

Many thanks.

The badge is that of the Omani Royal Guard which is a self contained military unit of about brigade size and not part of the Royal Army of Oman, however I am not sure where this particular version is worn.

Some possible uses could be, Music Stand Banner and or Pipe Banner.

Default Omani Royal Guard badge

Eddie and Marc,
Many thanks for your replies.
I don't know why I labelled the badge as being 'Palace Guards', it was 'Omani Royal Guard' that I carried out a search for - must be age!
When searching, I was looking at music stand banners and drum banners, there are some pictures showing the banners on the steel drums at an Omani Royal Guard Steel Band concert; these though, are of a slightly different design with a scroll below. The pipe banners, too, have a larger badge and that appears to be on a red rather than maroon background. I'll keep looking.
Thanks again.

Quite a few wire RG badges seem to have a maroon rather than red background, I've not been able to figure them out and i can't get a cogent answer out of the unit.

While looking at the museum site I noted the Ceremonial Guard wear a solar tope and it looks like there is a maroon covering on it. Perhaps maroon denotes ceremonal.
