Default Niassa Scouts

Hi Gents,

A little off topic but I was just watching a documentary by Ross Kemp on elephant poaching in Mozambique and noticed the interesting cap badge being worn by the Niassa Scout (see screen shot).

Somewhat of a long show but does any of our African members know if this is an official badge for this unit? Or have any information at all?

I ask as I wouldn't mind getting hold of one.

Cheerio,

Roy

Hi Chaps,

I realize no one may have any details on this badge but wanted to just drop a 'bump' on this - on the off chance..

Cheerio,

Roy

Hello Roy, after first reading your post I googled Niassa Scouts and turned up some interesting info. However clear insignia shots were few.
Best
Jack

Hi Jack,

Yes mate, I did the same. So it made me even more curious about the insignia. It may just be unofficial as the unit is so small. Still - intriguing non the less.

Cheerio,

Roy

Hi Roy

Unfortunately I do not know anything about the Niassa scouts but that badge looks a lot like the South African National Parks badge.

It also does not look anything like the Niassa Reserve logo or the corresponding badge worn on caps by their staff or on their scouts' uniforms that I have seen in pictures.

The reserve does seem to have a Facebook page; perhaps you could contact them for info through the page.

Cheers
Craig

Thanks for that Craig,

Very interesting indeed.

Facebook... I'm a bit of a Luddite mate, so avoid such things like the plague.

Cheerio,

Roy
