The Great Freeze of 1017
Well Lads & Lasses,
Here nestled in the mountains of northern New Mexico, the temperature has certainly dropped, sunny as it is, it's still bloody freezing (especially at night). Over a week ago we discovered a serious gas leak (under the bedroom), resulting in the gas company disconnecting us for safety reasons. A week later and we still have no central heat, hot water or stove. Fortunatly we have an open fire, so have been 'camping out' in the living room and making good use of an electric crock pot and our electric oven (steak & ale pies abound). Although our little Lillibelle seems to be weathering 'The Great Freeze' pretty well (see pic). Now just let's hope that 'Santa' looks rather like the state gas inspector and certifies the repairs to get this bloody heat back on - and quick... Cheerio, Roy

Was it as cold back in 1017 as it is now (2017) Roy?
I suppose the saying 'have a cold one' is not all that welcome right now. Marc

Hi Marc,
Well spotted mate. Just goes to show my brain and fingers aren't working that good in this chill. At least the log fire is up and going now and starting to think about some hot food. Cheerio, Roy

Thanks Gents,
It looks like a Christmas miracle may happen as the gas inspector has arrived, so best cast we could (?) be back up and running by the end of today/tomorrow. Fist think I'm going to do is crank up the heat, take a hot back and run around in my underwear.. Cheers, Roy

Well Christmas has been saved chaps.
Santa - well the state gas inspector, wearing a red shirt I might add..came yesterday and by late evening we were up and running. So after over a week, it was indeed a hot bath and underpants... Wooohuu.!

I am not sure that I can approve of running about and sharing a hot bath and underpants with a state gas inspector wearing a red shirt.
However, we all do unusual things at Christmas! Have a good one! |
