The Navy have a finite budget and it's up to them whether they want more aircraft for their aircraft carriers or Royal Marines. A question of priorities for the Navy.

Default Navy

Hi Alan
The US have confirm that full user trials for the f-35 VTOL will commence in and around u 2020 ..At the moment the Navy have 1 to play with.. I was also at a meeting where it was being discussed that the RAF may fly them on the carriers ?????
But I can tell you that the type 45's struggle to run the turbines and provide Aux power ,so they all have to have an additional Aux engine fitted oh yes they also need some missiles for the state-of-the art missile system ... its depressing

It certainly is depressing. Even army training in Canada is now on the line due to shortage of money.

When you consider that everything priced in US dollars has gone up by about 20% since the referendum, and we will be paying for the F-35s for HMS Queen Elizabeth post brexit who knows what they will cost?

The there is the subjet of more F-35s for HMS Prince of Wales.....

I know full well that PARA are Army & RM are Navy but it was mooted all through my time in 5 Airborne Brigade that a Belgian style Para-Commando Regiment & Brigade would be formed along with Support arms and Para-Cdo Gunner regiment. It could be on the cards again.

Something similar on the National tea time news. Not wishing to be full of doom and gloom, but rather, being realistic ,if this country was a company, bankruptcy would appear to be on the horizon.

Best perhaps not to talk about Brexit but again going by the National news it would appear that it might not be the simple negotiation that many thought.

Highly possible that 43 Cdo. Fleet Protection may well be cut in numbers and re-deployed 'elsewhere' along with personnel from 42 Cdo. which may be relegated to a 'training base' or something similar.
The Royal Marines 'raised and paid by the Admiralty', so far, it seems no senior shiny backsides from the Admiralty have committed themselves to anything like a decision, which is typical of course.
Politicians ... don't you just love them!

Surely only simple people , whether for or against Brexit, thought that such complicated negotiations would be simple.

BWEF, I think you may be right. Followed by the Falklands. After all, who's going to defend them?

They should disband the Parachute Regiment first. They'll never jump into a war zone again. IMHO

We could get G4 to do all the public duties.

They could even stop doing Public Duties, Barrack Guards aren't done by the troops any more.
