Hi Hussar

I also messaged the Brodie Helmet website. I asked if they knew anything about the use and purpose of this feature.

Default television series advisor

hi simon, I think the forum member chief chum is the man to ask, I'm not sure he worked on this programme for the bbc but he has advised on other tv series. I think he supplies uniforms and props as well to various productions. regards john

That seems like a marvellous idea. To my mind something has come to light with regards to this particular custom of wearing fur on the helmet. Let it be a platoon joke or a serious tactical addition, there's obviously mention of it somewhere in a memoir or serious historical document which is why they've decided to include it in the series.

I'll do a wee trawl on the IWM site, just in case.

Bad news chaps. The amount of silliness and abuse on the GWF thread was such that their mods decided to close it. One or two of the members here were also involved and will have seen what went on first hand. It's a pity too - they closed it just as I was about to lose my dignity by giving some numpty the rocket he needed.

It's very sad to see that a forum which has been so useful for so long is now populated by the type of idiots we've become used to seeing who take over various forums and rule them - like Arsse for example.

Is this the only well moderated forum left?
