Hi Kingsley,
Never seen a "RT" title before, and not listed in any army orders that I have seen? Will do some research and get back.

Kieth this was just sold on ebay for $99, Dave Wright was the seller.
Periods on an AVC title?? Never seen that before? Looks like one of your cut down AMC titles, the dots being the bottom of the “M”...top of the "V" same as the "M" in the AMC title and all neatly cut out? Contemporarily done? Or modern day fiddling?[/QUOTE]

Yes that's it, sorry I don't have a close-up of mine (disposed of them all years ago) but it had a bit of a cut-out in the bottom bar. It looks contemporary but I don't understand why they would have modified an AMC die.

I'll have to look in the Gazette and see who made them, can't remember if mine had a maker mark on it.

One of the small curved titles (Signals?) worn above the AUSTRALIA title by a South Australian bloke.

State Library of South Australia photo collection.

Hi bc,

I think RIFLES was the Victorian Rifles, whitemetal first 1906-08 and then brass 1908-12. I'm not quite certain how this unit evolved but all its officers came from the Senior Cadet Bn, Victoria, at the end of 1906 and it consisted of two Melbourne based companies only until it was absorbed in the 51st Infantry in 1912.

I've always thought that HQ may have been for the Siege Brigade but have no evidence one way or another, it could have easily been for HQ Div Arty or Engineers.

thanks keith
i kind of thought the HQ would have been used for all the HQs especially the corps.
i was thinking/hoping the RIFFLES was the Victorian Rifles. just wanted some confirmation.
the APC is army pay/post corps?
was also hoping the stkilda was military but i seem to remember a title with the 50 above?
thanks again Keith

It's been a few years since this thread has been touched, but surely it's never too late

To add comment to the converted AMC to AVC, I got one from IS Wright years ago, as soon as it arrived I knew it wasn't right and straight back it went. Unless there was compelling evidence to them being converted 'In the Field' I wouldn't touch them

Anyway, here is an assortment of my titles with a few variations included, mostly covered in previous posts, but I hope still of interest. So much harder to find nowadays

Dan
