Default Caveat Emptor !!

I hope no one on the Forum is bidding on this:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/3010248919...84.m1423.l2649

It appears to be a recent casting , originals are not cast. There was a second bid that appeared to have been retracted but there are now two bidders and the picture of the rear that the seller has now posted does not appear to have put bidders off.

P.B.

"Caveat Emptor" Would make a good motto for the badge collectors on the forum...

It looks to me more like it has a plate to the rear than that it is cast.

In my opinion someone ( and I don't mean the purchaser) has done very well with this item:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Rare-Sterl...torefresh=true

The Liverpool Irish did not have Pipes and Drums until they were reformed in 1939. The badge that was copied for the Pipers and Drummers is in nickel with screw posts north and south.

See MHS Bulletins No 230 November 2007 and No.30 November 1957 and Gaylor "Military Badge Collecting" Plate 27 and page 107
