Default Volunteer Cadet Corps Victoria

Hi Everyone,
I would like to share a photograph of a group of children in the uniform of the volunteer cadet corps of Victoria around 1893-1900. The adult is wearing a cap badge of the Victorian Volunteer Cadets with the QC, so assuming pre federation. The badge is clear under a strong glass in the original photo, but the resolution is not strong enough to see in the posted pics. Unfortunately the particular school is not known (might be on the back of the photo but I am not going to take it out of the frame). Comments encouraged.
regards
jim

Hi Jim,
Thanks for posting your interesting pictures.
Makes you wonder how many of those keen lads were alive in 1919.
Cheers, Tinto

Hi Jim,

What a really splendid photograph - thank you for sharing.

These early cadet and/or volunteer images are just terrific, glimpses to a bygone age.

I collect photographs to a different topic (the Lee-Metford/Speed), so do have this image to share which I believe is of cadets from the St. Andrews College Bradfield OTC (identified by forum members on an earlier thread). Not quite the same area of interest as yours but still an early 'cadet' image, so hope it will be of passing interest.

Perhaps one day you will have a peek at the back (?).

Cheerio,

Roy

Hi Tinto,
That is exactly the thought that ran thru my mind when I first obtained this photo.

Hi Roy,
Thanks for you comments. Always great to see these historical old photos. I will probably open up the photo when temptation gets the better of me! but for now I will let it be. Err, well, maybe!
regards
Jim

A group of cadets from St Augustines State School Yarraville Victoria 1906. Note now the hats are turned up on the opposite side to the pre 1900 pic. The photo courtesy Museum Victoria collection

G'day Jim

Great photo and a nice Vic Pre Fed uniform, hats turned up on the right, high collars on the jackets, inverted "D" shaped pockets and 3 plait puggarees on the high topped bush hats.

Same to you Roy another great photo and to Jim, again, for the later photo with Vic Per Fed high toped bush hats turned up on the left.

Thanks for sharing gents.

Regards

Phil.
