Default Collection of old restrikes for reference

LINK EXPIRED

This seller is selling off an old collection of copies and fakes and states them as such so no criticism of him. A useful reference for some old fakes to acquaint yourself with what to avoid. Some of these old fakes are rare in themselves and no longer being made as far as I know.

They do appear to be of better quality.

Perhaps manufactured by Fox?

I notice that one of them is Royal Guernsey Light Infantry. What is it about this one that marks it as a fake/restrike? I'm not doubting that it might be; I just want to know how to tell.

Slider shape and the missing piece of scroll below the O of Royal, on the reverse side. Its the same as the example I have in my album, except mine has signs of blacking on it.

Here's mine. Took some time to find one for framing. I'm happy with it.

Clever though, to put all what I think are original civilian badges, rail etc in among them.

Simon.

Default Royal Guernsey Light Infantry cap badges

Here's my 2 examples.
I'm more happy with the one with the roughly cut slider,as it has the look of a genuine period item, but the one with the smaller scroll ends is better quality stamping.

Nice badge Keith. Perhaps I'll have more luck next time. Regards, Paul.

Alan, your one on the right is from the same die as mine without a doubt.

Keith,
Yes it certainly seems to be an identical badge, with some depth in the striking, and a lot of detail that I haven't seen in similar badges.
Well done on the league by the way!
