Default Frontier Forces Regiment Cap Badges

Two Frontier Forces Regiment cap badges: the first one I guess is of the 1st/12th Frontier Forces Regiment, but I cannot make out what battalion/regiment should the second badge refer to ... any hints? Thank you so much in advance, gentlemen!

That is a bit odd, as none of the constituent units of the 12th were Rifles before 1922: 51st-54th Sikhs and the Guides Infantry. Have to do some more digging!

Could this be a Pakistan Frontier Force Regiment badge?

I have the same design in my collection but silver in colour.

I think that is correct. The post 1956 Pakistan Fronter Force Regiment.

And I have some wild suggestions about the first badge.
1) post 1945 because it says The Frontier Force Regiment instead of 12th Frontier Force Regiment.
2) post 1947 because the 1st Bn was a Sikh battalion and (if I am correct) had the words SIKHS in it's special to Bn badge. After partition that most probably was changed.

BTW in 1956 1st Bn, The Frontier Force Regiment (old) became 3rd Bn The frontier Force Regiment (new). Again, my interpretation. Corrections are welcome.

Just a remark: a King Crown after 1947?

Yes, of course. King George was still King of India and Pakistan until they became republics in 1950, resp. 1956. In the latter case of course until his death

Default Pakistan Army regiments

Hi,
The two cap badges shown are:

1. The Frontier Force Regiment, Pakistan Army. This badge was worn during the period from partition in 1947 to republic in 1956. Pakistan was a British dominion in that period, hence the crown; all royal symbols were dropped on Pakistan becoming a republic.

2. The Frontier Force Regiment, Pakistan Army. This badge was worn post- April 1956 after the creation of the new Frontier Force Regiment. This new regiment was created from the amalgamation of the old Frontier Force Regiment, the Frontier Force Rifles and the Pathan Regiment.

George

Is that completely fancy then?

When you mean that he ceased to be "Emperor" of India, I am with you.
