Andrew

In 1922, with the big re-organization, a number of grenadier regiments of the IA were combined as the 4th Bombay Grenadiers. The 1st and 2nd Battalions existed through the '20s & '30s, serving in Somaliland and the 2nd Batt. were 'tank escort' infantry with the 50th Indian Armoured Brigade, serving at Kohima among other places. In 1947 they became part of the Indian Army's Grenadier Regiment - not sure which battalion but probably 2nd. A proud unit with a good hsitory. Pre-1922 the 2nd Batt. were the 102nd King Edward's Own Grenadiers.
