Default RAF "crew"

Hello.
Any info about the attached pic would be much appreciated.
The one with the peaked cap was my father (shown in my previous post).
Mum thought he was a trainee pilot, so not sure about the others being "his crew".

Hi anml, here's my take on this photo. The "crew" are wearing what I would describe as "cold weather overcoats"....perhaps because they are in northern UK or Scotland.Also.if they are "a crew" serving on a Short Sunderland of Coastal Command,at different period a crew of between seven to eleven, depending on the period of service. In this photo there are 10 men....

In the portrait photo of dad on another thread I thought that he may be RCAF from the cap badge that he's wearing.....

Not seen other ranks aircrew using a SD cap before. Does not look to be a WO. SD cap only used by a couple of trades after the early part of the war.Jerry can in plain view- could they be ground crew? Trainee Aircrew had a flash-(white?) in the front of their Field Service caps (chip bag) I don't think trainees trained as a crew- they trained as a trade then joined a crew. I think I have heard the various trades posted to a squadron could be taken to a room and left to form individual crews.

As dad was a LAC, could the pic be him and his "crew"? He's sort of in the centre, and the only one with a peaked cap.

Sorry I started two threads, making it difficult for everyone.

Default Enhanced pics

The word on the wall behind the group looks like "Ald.....ss"

Wondering if the badges on their coats mean anything to anyone?
