WW2 Motto...... restrike?
Hi All
This Motto was advertised from a well known dealer as :- "17th LANCERS A silver plate cap badge to the 17th ( Duke of Cambridge's Own ) Lancers.2 loops to the reverse. KK 782" I received it this morning, plonked it in some "silver dip"...... no expected "silver" reaction from the motto. This Motto is definitley from the Gaunt die (Officer) as its identicle, apart from the loops, to a JRG&S Birmigham 1946 hallmarked silver Motto and a genuine other ranks (Front image) motto. My opinion is that its a post 1970 restrike (Nickle plated) of the H/M Officer WW2 Motto. SO....... what do I do...... it cost me £45 from a dealer that admitted that he did a silver test on the badge that came out "negative" in a conversation we had yesterday when the Motto was in the post!!??

Hi Griff,
In my opinion, you have three choices, live with it, if you like it, try and get a part refund and if you're not happy, return it, as a well known ex member continually wrote...." simples ".. Dave. |
