Hello Dave,
Thank you for the link. I find the badges all 'kinda' wrong. On the East Surreys, there are no sweatholes, an amazingly long slider and a J R Gaunt circular cartouche that puzzles me.
There is a perfectly usual pagri for the East Surreys, admittedly over copied, so why this one? I'd expect the helmet plate centre to have a long slider and all the sliders seen to be the same colour. Further more I believe, but have no evidence that the QVC pagri badge was worn on the slouch hat that came back from South Africa.

Right here are some badges with long sliders added on and some odd Gaunt circler plates glued on as well. It is almost as he has a big box of parts and some superglue............

What a terrible batch of padges, anyone who bids on any one of them needs their head seeing to - but someone will.

The East Surrey pagri always has a pin and is a unique design, although an HPC with vertical shank is feasable alternative I've yet to see one.

That's a bit of alright mate.....................nice one, a point I've never fully been clear on, did the long slider slip behind the Puggaree ( not too safe, me thinks ), or was there always a pocket for it to fit into and....................did the broach feed through the Puggaree band ???? similar to any brooch ??

Only 'cause I don't know !!

Dave.

Good to hear your words of wisdom on this subject Keith. I mention the HPC pagri as I have a half memory of Lew Shotton having one on his list but, as in most things I am quite happy to be wrong.
Those Gaunt cards are really bad and verge on serious disinformation

Matti,

You're quite right, Lew has one in his listings with a clipped vertical shank.

Firstly, I have seen a WO tender for HPCs with long sliders - I'll have to check to see if E Surr are on it.
Secondly, the ACD produced a special socket for these things to be slotted into. In other words they were not bnecessarily worn on a 'pagri'.
I'll look up details when I can.
