Hi Guys,
Firstly forgive me if this post should be in the Indian section, but I thought as it’s Airborne I may have more luck here. I have had this Indian PR badge for some years. It cost me penny’s and I always assumed it was a copy. Anyway I thought I would just post it and get some opinions as it’s always good to know for sure. As I said it was no money at all so I’m not invested either way. Your comments are greatly appreciated. Regards, Roy. |

Roy, I believe the die struck examples are replicas and that original ones were cast. Buywyze have one that I think is ok:

Hi Luc,
Thanks for your input. I suspected as much but just wasn’t too sure. I had seen the one on Byewise but a little out of my budget at this time. Many thanks, best wishes, Roy. |

These are genuine.
1st pattern - die struck in copper then plated -very thin. http://www.britishbadgeforum.com/for...ictureid=10165 2nd pattern - cast solid backed white metal. http://www.britishbadgeforum.com/for...ictureid=10225 I have also seen hallmarked british made solid silver ones. Shaun Quote:

Hi Shaun,
Good to see the 1st pattern confirmed as a die struck example. I always thought it was cast from the imperfections and thickness. Are you sure the 2nd pattern is original? I have one that is remarkably similar, die struck brass, which I believe to be a replica. |

I will post photos of reverse.
The second pattern one is flat backed and typical Indian construction. I am fairly certain but there always are other opinions..... The 1st pattern one is very thin so no way cast. Will post reverse of this too in my folder (once I find the damn things.....) Quote:
