I am assuming from whats there already, that I would need to provide a picture of the badge on a white background?
Is there a preferred resolution or pixel size, or will it be resized automatically the way it is in the posts/albums etc

Hi David & Andy,

I was thinking of doing this sometime ago but to be honest it would be to bigger project for me. This could be done easily done with the members on the forum.
I will gladly fill in the Gaps

It is a lot of work and its nice that it has been started.

How do we keep the impetus going on this, and:-

a) what is the criteria for including a picture - a cap badge as per 'numbered' KK.. (i.e. keep it plain and simple) and ignore each period and the different metal types etc. I believe we would have to agree on the scope, otherwise...
b) size/resolution required
c) plain background, and
d) who do we send the pictures to for inclusion, or - if we can agree on
a standard size, format, scope of the badges etc, maybe we can each
make a contribution and the others review whats been done?

If they are all taken on a white/cream background it is quite easy to isolate the outline of the badge and (possibly) vary the badge backing colour according to each regiment e.g. in the future - this would make it easy to manipulate the badge against a suitable background colour at some point.

Hi, it's a 'forum project' which means it's yours - I just do the labour of trying to make the photos look uniform and uploading them

Problem is I am strapped for spare time at the moment, but the idea is the same as the Canadian pages, a reference of the basic designs, definitely with collars and titles as well.

Photos required: large if possible 1200 pix and a few hundred kb minimum - not critical though - but it does make them easier to work on if they're a fair bit bigger than the published sizes in there (475-600 pix.)

Background: light colour if possible but not critical.

I am trying to get photographed the few bits and pieces I have to save others the time, plus I need to get into KK vol 2 and get the numbers of the amalgamated cavalry and modern cavalry added as well.

Mike,
Thanks. Do you want them attached to this post or do you want them emailed?
David

Kipling and King number for the top pair? I don't think there is one - anyone else come to the same conclusion?

Mike,
The (RI) ones are definitely in KK as 741.
The more 'common' one with D.GUARDS is 740.

I thought we should have three different numbers for the three different designs, but he allocates 740 for the officers' pattern 'D.Guards' elongated star type, as well as the more circular OR's - I was under the impression another number would be allocated for a badge of different shape?
Anyway, will number them 740 as well.

Mike,
Maybe we could number them plus additional letters?
e.g1 KK740 mentions BIM, BR, SG, BNZ
e.g2 KK741 mentions SG, BNZ

Would this make help?
