WW1 Canadian Engineers
Hi
I think that this is genuine but converted to sweetheart brooch? Please can you tell me if it's ww1, original and a cap or collar badge please. I think that it is approximately 3cm x 3.2cm? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/204164905681 Many thanks Martyn Last edited by Martyn123; 14-11-23 at 11:15 AM. |

Hello Martyn, The Canadian Engineers were a component of the militia (not permanent) from the early 1904 through 1932. Most of the CEF engineers were militia. The beaver pattern cap badge was worn by these units during that time period. The Militia Dept / National Defence HQ promulgated dress instructions that forbid the puncturing of the body of summer helmets. To get around that order, the badges were fitted with pin backs to attach to the pugaree.

Hi. The actual badge. A bit smaller than I thought, would this still be considered a sun helmet badge or would it be a collar a badge due to its small size please? The pin looks original to me Many thanks

Martyn, could you give the actual measurements? The CE typically wore grenade collars during the war, but some officers had small cap badge style collars.

Hi Martyn, with those measurements, the badge is either a collar or a sweetheart pin.
