Default Queens own Hussars

Here is a recent acquisition, a cap badge to the Queens Own Canadian Hussars, marked W Scully Montreal.
Would this be considered an officers cap badge as it has a solid back?

The Queens Own Canadian Hussars were a cavalry regiment based in Quebec city and was originally raised on 13 November 1856. It was the only Calvary regiment located in Quebec pre CEF. Although the regiment never assembled for the Boer War many members volunteered for service with the Canadian Mounted Rifles, including VC winner Lt. Richard Earnest William Turner.

The Queens Own Hussars were renamed the 10th Queens Own Canadian Hussars in 1903.

What is the difference between the 10th QOCH and the early QOCH other than the crown?
