Default Welsh Horse cap badge

Hi,

I welcome opinions on this one as to whether it's genuine or not.

I always used to look for the extra bit of metal above the H, but this is now appearing in copies. This one does look like a good one to me but want some other opinions please.

Cheers,
Jack

Hi Jack.....from what I have picked up on here the gap between the two top verticals of the H should be there, it should be filled in. I would lean towards not a good one. I may be wrong and contradicted.

Here's mine to explain what I mean.

Hi Simon, thank you for your reply. From the link I can see that the gap above the H is completely filled in whereas on mine it is about 50% filled in. I have seen others like mine in albums here. I always thought definitely wrong if there was no excess metal at all.

More opinions welcome please.

Jack

Not for me I'm afraid & I have been looking into this unit at the IWM amongst other places recently. Not ready to give a definitive view yet though sorry.
I did find an otherwise unknown (to me) badge worn by the WH though. The IWM have kindly granted permission as long as we acknowledge the source.
I'll post it when I get some time.

Jack,
I'm pretty sure it is a fake? (I've got a nice one on eBay for comparison).

Best Regards

Andy
