Burmese
I have been asked by a friend to try and identify the uniform shown in this photograph and an approximate date for when it was taken.
The lady is said to be Burmese and it has all the hallmarks of a wedding photo. There appear to be no identifying badges on the uniform. Can anyone add anything please? Jon |

Very much a British Army Officer's Service Dress uniform and therefore very likely to be a Burmese officer in the Indian Army and possibly in a mounted regiment. I would hazard a guess that it was either pre 1942 or slightly post 1945. I am not sure if the army of independent Burma wore British OSD.
Does the owner of the photograph have a name for the officer as he might be found in the ABRO commissions in the London Gazette? Is there the name of a photographer's studio and location recorded on the photograph or the mount? |

The trousers and use of sword suggest to me that it is interwars.
An interesting pic.
