Hello from Over due Joinee
Hello Forum Members,
I have just read 3 threads & realised I should have been looking for this forum to join at least 5 years ago. I am a keen collector of military cap badges & recently branched into war time, home front enamel types as well (expensive ). I do some trading, selling doubles or interesting bits that I find at fairs or in auctions to fund my hobby & this has led me to seek out more info were possible, I have books on the subjects but its the collectors collecting now who know best. I recently bought a large collection of Yeomanry badges which I believed to be 'right', only to find that things are not always as they seem! Very much looking forward to learning more on the forum, looks like some great content. Cheers, Rob. |

Thank you for the welcome chaps, I'm going to start wading through these yeomanry badges for starters, see if I can find out whats what by comparing to old posts, looks like a mixed bag to be honest.
Cheers Rob. |

Yeomanry badges are a minefield not least because the units themselves went through periods when they wore their original yeomanry badges but were often re-roled, amalgamated etc.
Add the fact that the demand and thus faking is greater and has been there for longer. I would commend you read the pinned Laurie Archer notes in the restrike section where he recorded the restriking of post war Yeomanry badges with the Gaunt mark. Also a number of Yeomanry badges were made in the 1970s, and since, using officer patterns or a/a patterns and were not worn by ORs in that metal. |
