RCEME Plated cap Badge
I've just acquired this cap badge to add to my REME collection. A standard RCEME badge in brass with white metal overlay. Queen's crown and two lugs to the rear as opposed to a slider. No maker marks. However, the badge has been plated at some time (not very well in my opinion), not sure with what. Is there any specific reason for this, or is it just a 'one off' to satisfy an individual's fantasy?

Just out of interest - the scroll says "RC / EME"?
I assume it does, just can't quite make out. |

Worn on the rectangular waist belt plate.
Plating badges was common in the 1950s/60s. Phil

Agree with Phil. Are the lugs a bit longer than typical?

Phil & Bill. Thanks for that. I should have thought of that option. Bill. The lugs are a little short in my view (see pic), but I suppose it depends on the thickness of the plate the badge was attached to.

Hi John, The lugs look to be a bit heavier than ususal types.

Here is mine. Completely white metal and not plated as far as I can tell. It looks gold in the picture but is bright silver. Replacement slider.
