Machine Gun Corps??
I hope KLR will forgive me using his album image. I have a MGC badge exactly the same as this one. Three lugs, Gaunt plaque, cap badge size and in GM / brass not Officers bronzed. Is it a cap or collar or copy? On the Great War Forum a badge man States all lugged variants are collars or likely re strikes? Can someone enlighten me. If a collar seems large and would it have been worn on service dress 16-18?

Possibly Canadian MGC wear?
http://www.canadiansoldiers.com/corp...neguncorps.htm The Gaunt plaque is not correct for a British ORs badge which as your GWF memeber states were slidered. It is correct for a badge supplied to the Canadians. Last edited by Alan O; 01-09-15 at 12:39 PM. |

TRT/TT,
I have seen perfectly genuine MGC OR collar badges with gaunt plates so I do not see why cap badges would not have been produced. While not MGC I have pairs of Territorial S/Ts with impressed Gaunt Maker Marks and a pair to the RE also with an impressed makers mark. I would not write it off. regards Mark |

Thanks for replies. I am not writing it off. My experience tells me it's period and not restrike. I also know just coz records show all spidered there will always be different ones out there. However I am going for Canadian. Lugs and Gaunt tablet all point that way. A bonus as I have another badge for my CEF collection!
TRT also TT on GWF |
