Default 174 Highland Field Ambulance
Hi,
I am looking for any information on badges, insignia or patches that would have been used by my Grandfather in WWII.

My uncle and I are hoping to recreate his journey from Ouistreham to Hanover 1944/5 and these things would help set the scene and make great mementos of the journey.
Attached is a pic of Grandad and his ambulance.

Sign of 51 Highland Inf Div is a red conjoined HD on a blue ground. The numeral 75 in white on a black square indicated the senior (of three) Field Ambulances in an Infantry Division. The title "Field Ambulance " applies to the unit, not the vehicle (which is almost certainly the Ambulance Heavy, 4 x 2 (Austin K2) - star of the film "Ice Cold in Alex". Mike

I hope I have got this right.

Formation Badge.
RAMC badges and RASC badges just in case he was an RASC driver.

If he was an ambulance driver he would have been in the Royal Army Service Corps. If he was an ambulance attendant he would have been in the Royal Army Medical Corps.
