Default US RAF Nationality title

Hello,

I saw these on ebay, and I wondered if anyone could clarify some of the points the seller raises:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/CANADA-USA-R...item3f1e80a6d3

Could they have been a fantasy type?

Best wishes,

BP

Hello Guy. I can tell you one thing, these were sold more than 20 years ago in fairs in the Montreal area, as originals. They came out of a surplus store that had literally thousands of them in brand new mint condition. A "wanna-be dealer" bought a whole lot of them and the flooded the canadian market (and I think the french market too as he had some customers there), after a while you couldn't give them away since almost every dealer had some on his hands. Some honest dealers are still trying to get rid of them even today.
In those days, mid 1980s to early 1990s,yes, they were sold as originals shoulder titles.

I once sold some surplus American badges to Charlie at Pass in Review. He was introduced to me by a friend and fellow collector. I can't speak for these badges in particular, but he seemed like an honest gent.

They are certainly genuine and worn by Americans in the RCAF WHEN SERVING OVERSEAS. Those serving in Canada just wore the eagle with USA underneath. There are a number of photos about showing them. As mentioned, there are lots around, with the result that they don't fetch much mote than about $10.00.

I have delt with him for 20 years and have found him to be an honest dealer.
