Fake plastic badges
I think the only plastic badges to be faked are the Parachute Rgt and Army Air Corps, if anyone knows of others I would be interested.

Oddly the GS Corps and RSIGNALS have been made for reenactors.

Plastic fakes
Alan,
I really am surprised that these badges have been repro'd as they are very common and I would not think worth the effort. Rob |

Hi Thomas
That’s interesting, I’m collecting the plastic badges (amongst others) at the moment, interested to know what your concerns are with them, have you a picture of the reverse? Gerard

Fakes
Thomas, the belt buckle is a modern repro, is it possible to show the reverse of the RAF, RASC, RAMC and RECCE.

Fakes
Also could you show the reverse of the other plastics?

That unfortunately is the only image I cribbed from the net, no reverse images. However, anyone who has ever handled a genuine platic badge will immediately spot the difference between these fakes and the real deal. Rough, bulging reverse instead of flat, air bubbles, painted and flimsy blades are the giveaways. I suspect they made a rather rough mould from a genuine badge and cast them with resin or some other modern plastic.
I'm fairly sure they've been here on the forum before. All made for the reenactor crowd who seem easily pleased judging from the quality of these. Rgds, Thomas Last edited by fougasse1940; 12-03-18 at 11:15 PM. Reason: spelling |
