Royal Norfolks Veterans Association.
Can any Forum member identify this small silver and enamel medal. The obverse states: Royal Norfolk Veterans Association. The reverse is engraved with the recipient’s name and the words “For Merit” and the date for 1926. It is also hallmarked.
Any help or advice offered will be greatly appreciated. Kind regards, Malcolm. |

So you have a marriage of items…….. sort of
The ribbon is correct for the RNVA, but normally found on the the bronze kings visit medal. But it quite possible member put the ribbon on his merit medal. The sliver merit medal is awarded by the association members to a member who has done a lot to help the RNVA. I have a good collection of them, including one to myself, and quite a few have been returned to the association, to go on display in the medal collection, which used to be at the royal Norfolk museum. Let me know his name, and I will do some research. Last edited by norfolk regt man; 09-11-23 at 08:15 PM. Reason: Spelling |

"The Royal Norfolk Veterans Association Medal was established in 1909 in commemoration of King Edward VII's inspection of the association at Crown Point, Norfolk. In 1902, King Edward VII became the patron of the association, and henceforth, each successive monarch has been the patron of the association".
No doubt proper info. Will come from the forum's Norfolk gurus. Edit - delayed transmission - they're already here..... |
