Manchester Militia Glengarry
Gentlemen, would any of the Manchester guru's kindly take a butchers at this WM glengarry and offer an opinion as to it's originality. This is the first opportunity I have had to handle one of these badges and without a "benchmark" to compare it to I have some dithers regarding strike anomalies which can be seen in the images. Also noted is the somewhat thin WM stock from which the badge has been struck and the 2 lug configuration.
Any thoughts from forum members on this one will be much appreciated. Cheers. Len. |

Not a Manchester guru but I like the yellow brazing and would not worry about it being a little thin. Some Victorian badges are thinner than usual. Kevin

Thank you Kevin and Andy for your opinions on this one. What I noticed regarding the strike is the lack of detail in the diagonal across the globe and likewise the 3 diagonals across the shield. The lion appears to winking, the left eye is partially closed! Also the "E" in Labore is not well formed.
Thanks again gents. Any other opinions will be appreciated. Len. |
