Roy,
I think in another place, I gave you my own thoughts on these shoulder titles, I've never had more than a dozen or so, I am so glad to hear that you have found an example, they are quite scarce things and as mentioned before, they did turn up from time to time in South Africa, really seldom anywhere else.
So, one hundred and sixteen years down the line and you can still clearly discern the remains of the original finish, which is, in my opinion at least, quite an important feature, that is visible in all the portrait photographs.
Again, pleased for you,
Regards Frank

Hello Frank,

Thank you for that my friend. Yes this one has a great look and feel to it and as you pointed out, still shows some of the original finish. See attached a close up of a photograph I have, you can clearly see the dark finish to these titles.

Cheerio,

Roy

Thanks chaps, It was nice to see the other badges on the forum. Do any more of the members have boer war cutout badges, it would be good to see a record kept, as they are now very hard to find.
Cheers Garry.

Yeah, there was debate on here if it was a good one or not.
Judging by the price and I think from memory lack of bidders I would say not.
