Hi all,
I have here those two badges that I don't need anymore and before I stick them up for a sale could you please confirm are they originals and also Malta RA collar is it even worth anything? Wasn't able to locate another. Thanks!

The Royal Malta Artillery collar badge looks good, even though it differs from the ones I've handled with a single lug as the one on the image above the lug is horizontal while the other pair I have not yet on my album have a vertical lug. My thought would be a different maker!!

This is an OSD collar I picked up. It was sold as a Malta Fire Brigade cap badge.

Plus it will surely look nicer on my album, not to mention my collection

Were they worn on the cap too, by any chance?
I totally stumbled onto this badge whilst looking for a London Fire Brigade cap badge.

The 26th Hussars badge is an ORs collar - by intention - and a genuine UK manufactured badge by Gaunt.
More often than not described by sellers as a cap badge, and it possibly was worn on the beret by some, I don’t know for sure. However, I can attest to the Indian cast variations of a type with lugs and those indeed cast from the Gaunt badges with the addition of lugs which were worn in the head-dress - aside from those with sliders. Prices vary considerably from eBay sales to the online dealers, but in my opinion £15 to £20 is a fair price for such a collar badge. Best, Marcus |

To my knowledge this was always meant as a collar badge and not a cap badge. Other grenades have be used as cap badges, but certainly not this one. https://www.maltaatwarmuseum.com/gallery.html Vincent |

Phil, Vincent,
Actually, the OSD bz collar grenade was also worn on the beret and, to the best of my knowledge, currently still is. It is definitely NOT a Malta Fire Brigade badge GTB Last edited by GTB; 25-06-18 at 11:31 AM. Reason: Additional data |

Thanks guys. To correct myself, it was sold as a 'Malta Airport Fire Brigade' cap badge.
Cheers, Phil

When the British base closed down in Malta in 1979, the RAF Fire Service was transferred to the Government of Malta and formed a component part of the Armed Forces of Malta. All firemen and fire officers were soldiers and carried military ranks. A fire officer wearing a beret would have sported the OSD bronze grenade on it. However, it is to be appreciated that this does not change the fact that it is an AFM headdress. Hope the above is useful GTB |

Just for clarification, this OSD grenade was also used as collar badge for the RMA prior to being inherited by the AFM. |
