WW1 Sniper Badge?
Hi,Shane here.I'm collecting badges from the battalions my relatives wore during WW1.I found out recently that one of those family members was a Sniper.I'm considering buying a badge on Ebay listed as a Snipers/Marksman badge, with two brass crossed Lee Enfield's.Would this actually be worn by a Sniper or could it be a shooting Instructor type of insignia? I ask this because from what I've read about Snipers, they were highly despised by the enemy on both sides.Would a Sniper,in the event of capture, want to be wearing a badge indentifying himself as a Sniper? Any help with this would be much appreciated. Thanks. Shane

Marksman Badge
It is a Marksman Badge which was a qualification/skill badge (not a trade badge).
