Default Ww2 commando berets.

Guys am I right in saying that a Z marked beret is a 45 beret?
I've 2 green berets. One is clearly 1945 the other I'm unsure if 1945or 1946. IMG_9862.jpg

KC RM badges added. Interestingly in the further kit was a piece of wire and a polish tin used as a backing plate.
You can see inside where it's been fitted.

M is 44
Z is 45
L is 46
E/P is 47

The first pictures looks to be a 46 dated beret but has a Z. Maybe it should be -
'Z' is 45/46 or as date marked on the beret?

My mistake it is a 45. Correctly marked (position wise) for a Supak

I was unsure Irv hence my questioning.
Also a set of dark blue No1s with KC buttons but no date or label.

Nice Supak Another 45. Stitching is typical Supak, great find. Have a look behind the pocket flaps on the tunic. I would expect to see the Royals name and number stamped on it.

The date codes are, I believe, inspection stamps rather than manufacture date stamps, so you do see them with later codes than the manufacture dates. But obviously they can't be the other way round. You can't inspect them before they are made!

Personally I never believed that L is 1946, I have items dated 1945 with that Letter and it defies logic when compared with the sequence for the war years, into which it fits.
I have yet to see a 46 dated object with the L. I am of course happy to be shown the error in my thinking with any examples you might have images of to share as it would clear this up for me.
