Default Ministry of Supply Transport Corps

The Minden Militaria website is currently selling a black plastic badge with the title shown above under a crown

http://www.mindenmilitaria.com/viewp...h=50850&phqu=4

I'm not familiar with this badge which would appear to be a Home Front item. Can anyone shed light on it please?

Some interesting plastics there, I've never heard of the Fire Watchers badge or the RWF black plastic if it is plastic & not metal.

Interesting examples as you say. Did you mean Fuel Watchers rather than Fire Watchers? The RRF had a black plastic badge so why not the RWF? Suspect it was not worn with the hackle as that might have defeated the object. Perhaps an RWF collector can enlighten us?

My mistake, you're correct, Fuel not Fire.

My own experience of black badges & hackles is that they would sometimes (varying from tour to tour) be worn together.
If the threat became more imminent whilst on patrol the hackle could be quickly pulled out of the beret & shoved in a pocket, leaving just the tactical black badge in wear.

The hackle going into the indispensable Smarties tube of course.

Could be "First I.A." in a "contact", get your hackle tubed up, never mind cocking your rifle, taking cover or making a contact report first - can you imagine the sheer terror of getting caught up in a fire fight without your Smarties tube?
Just have to sit it out on the side lines.
'Course, if it was raining you wouldn't be wearing a hackle anyway.
