Default DLI Territorial Badge

Can anyone confirm whether or nor the DLI Territorial cap badge was ever issued with a slider?
To my knowledge they were only ever issued to officers & were secured with two lugs.
I've just came across this example on ebay.

He also has listed the famous "1RDM" bugle badge, this time listed as the "Royal Durham Militia", a unit which never existed.

You are absolutely right on both counts. The fake slidered DLI badges extend to 1st VB with a scroll underneath the bugle horn - neither the TF nor the 1st VB should have sliders. As for the RDM bugle horn, I get sick and tired of seeing them listed as everything from Durham to Devon. Regards. David

The DLI Territorial Officers badge with SA Scroll is also found with blades on the reverse, similar to the blades found on the bronzed SD badges.
I have an example which is still attached to it's original peaked cap, which I think dates from the 1920's.
ll the best.

It is most unlikely that a scrolled DLI cap badge would have been worn post WW1 with all Bns. moving towards the non-scrolled (regulars) version. You are right about blades, of course. David

The only time i've ever actually seen a DLI scrolled badge being worn was in 1973.
I was an Army Cadet at the time doing my NCO's Cadre course at Hartlepool & one of the officers there was wearing one in his beret.
As he was the only one wearing that type of badge it was probably "unofficially", being his ex regiment. I remember he was also wearing ribbons to the Africa, Italy & France & Germany Star.
It's strange the things you remember at times isn't it?

Looking at photo's of the 8th Bn post WW1, at the Durham Records Office, it seems that the Officers continued to wear the scrolled badge. There is also a book published by the DRO of some of the DLI photo's in there archive and it clearly shows an Officer C1950-60's wearing a beret and his badge is the scrolled type with Queens crown. I don't have the book to hand, but I seem to remember it was of TA troops in forming a Guard of Honour for some Royal visit, so I don't think the Officer would get away with wearing whatever he pleased.
The hat I have is named on the inside to a chap called Walton. He seems to have been commissioned around 1927ish and served right up to and during WW2. He appears in several of the Officer Group photos held by the DRO.
I will try and get some clear photo's of the hat if you would like to see it?
