Thank you. I will attempt it, with a not so good photo I have of RAINBOW's tally. I've actually a collection of about 150, some of which I'm told are rare. Not only Canadian, but also German, Russian, RNZN, RAN, plus few odd ones.

Tally Bands
I hope this worked and I up-loaded the correct case with RAINBOW's in it.
[We always called them tallies, tally bands or cap tallies.] |

Tally Bands
It worked. Learn something new every day! I might as well post the others, though my photos are not very good. Camera flash got in the way a few times, but you can still see the tallies.

Tally Bands
The last group should be ones worn by my husband when he was in the RN.

Beautiful Collection! I believe that your HMCS RAINBOW tally is for the submarine that was decommissioned in the early 1970s. Previous posts have indicated that the cruiser's tally had a period after RAINBOW. Phil |

Cheers. I just dug it out and it does look rather new compared to some of the others. Not tarnished, so obviously not wire. HMCS/m RAINBOW was not at all familar to us. Not surprising as we were gone from Canada in May '67, returning 1970 to Ontario. I knew of only 1 Rainbow in the RCN ~ the original.
Which port did HMCS/m RAINBOW run from? Toni |

When she did her tour along the BC coast before decommissioning, HMCS/m Rainbow was out of Esquimalt.

HMCS Rainbow
Quote:
HMCS Rainbow was the first ship commissioned into the infant RCN - 4 Aug 1910, exactly 4 years before the outbreak of the Great war. She spent all of RCN time on the west coast. She was decommissioned for breaking up June 1, 1920. Bryan |
