Default Wartime British Beret Basque maroon beret question

Can someone confirm that British Beret Basque ltd made maroon berets in 1943? I have seen contracts for 1953, 1959, 1961 etc but not from WW2.

Also can it be confirmed that the leather sweatband overlapped the cotton liner, rather than the normally seen liner overlapping the sweatband? That would be a rather unique feature not seen on any wartime beret known to me, maroon or any other colour.
