There are interesting threads concerning this badge on GMIC & WAF, a search should easily locate them

I also found a reference to an Israeli postage stamp which shows this badge with a note that it was a mistake by the stamp designer and the start of the myth that this was a Jewish badge.

Anyone got a real contemporary photo?
Hi Eddie, is this the badge your referring to as the colonial period Nigerian - customs or border police. I did the search on Google, but this design didn't pop up. I just want to confirm if it is, as I can strike if off the colonial wants list.

Cheers

Simon.

I am afraid I really don't know. I can tell you that an identical badge was on eBay a few weeks ago as ... well you guessed it ... the JBG.

All I will say for absolutely sure is the JBG did NOT wear any variety of Megan David CAP BADGE. And that is a gold plated certainty.

The badge you illustrate is a colonial period cap badge as worn by Trinidad and Tobago Police.

Here is a button contribution.
First Trinidad.
I am not sure of the letters T.T.P.S. - Trinidad Tobago Police/Prison Service
The coat of arms button is older and is most likely Trinidad Police Force.

Next up is Nigeria. I do not know of any buttons with this emblem, but attached is the badge as it was in 1939 in the flag. (source: Flaggenbuch, Kriegsmarine 1939)

Thanks all for the input. Cheers Dave for the I.D. So Trinidad and Tobago now off the list to get for the Empire collection.

Thanks again, and you all have a good day.

Regards
Simon

The first button is Trinidad & Tobago Police Service. The second button is of contemporary period. The arms are those of the Port of Spain Corporation. "CPF" abbreviates "City Police Force". The City of Port of Spain and the town of San Fernando have their own municipal police forces distinct from the national police force.

I've nothing new to add to this thread (I didn't exactly have a lot to offer in the first place) but here are some links to threads including the "Jewish Chaplains Badge"on other sites:

Default Trinidad & Tobago Police

Hi Chaps

Just to clarify the pre-independence Trinidad & Tobago Police badges for anyone who doesn't already know:

Helmet Badge - the first badge shown by Mike in the above post
Cap Badge - the star badge shown in post 17.
Collar Badges - smaller versions of the cap badge.

David
