The Narrow Road to the Far North
Imagine...Richard Flanagan: Life after death.
I have just watched this programme (first broadcast late last night) on BBC TV iplayer. Quite outstanding - Richard Flanagan is a truly remarkable writer. His father survived captivity by the Japanese and was the inspiration for the book - The Narrow Road to the Far North. Those interested in seeing what is possible a unique metal badge on a slouch hat - possibly contrived by a talented Digger should watch the programme, but pause just before the end at the hour/minute/second count of 01.02.46 for a couple of seconds of the badge (kangaroo over boomerang over curved title AUSTRALIA - reminiscent of the 6 Aust Div formation sign). The book is quite a good read as well - read it earlier this year.
