Help in Identifying this uniform
Hi All
Whilst checking through some very old family documents for my mum I found this photo of what I am assuming is an old family member. The cap badge seems to have 2 digits of which the second is a 9 (probably a 39 or 59) and the photo was taken in Deptford, London. That is all I know. Any help in identifying timeframe or regiment would be great. Many Thanks in advance |

Right way up - On the original can you make out what the 2 numbers are on the pork-pie hat?
The numbers would pre-date 1881. The glengarry was worn by British Infantry from circa 1868 so it may pre-date then |

Google has the 39th Regiment of Foot as the Dorsetshire Regiment.

After another look it’s almost definitely a ‘59’ insignia on the hat
