Default Royal Yachtsmen uniform distinctions?

Hi all, a question for anyone who served on the Royal Yacht Britannia.

I believe, ratings in square rig, had a bow at the back of the jacket, is this correct, anyone have an image? (I vaguely remember this from a Portsmouth Evening News article fin the 1980's)

I've noticed for sale previously, Royal Yacht white fronts with the Royal Yacht title on the chest, however, I recently saw one for sale that had a Killick's badge on one sleeve and a trade badge on the other! Was this normal practice for Royal Yachtsmen?

All the uniforms I've seen for sale, the trousers are the older sailor type with the rectangular buttoned flap at the front, was this a Royal Yacht dress distinction too?

In addition, A Royal Marine Bandsman, serving on the yacht and wearing Lovat's in jumper order, would he have worn a RM Band Service shoulder title or a Royal Yacht one (or both ?) and if so what type/colour would it have been?

Many thanks in advance.

Tony

I would be interested in learning more on this subject as well. At some point I'd like to pursue some of the appropriate badges if there were any unique to the Royal Yacht besides the cap tally.

Hi Terry, Yes there are other insignia other than the cap tally! Here is my collection of Royal Yacht badges, that are all white on Navy blue except the shoulder titles.

The jacket was worn inside the trousers which were high waisted. The bow was on the trousers in the small of the back.

They are standard trade patches, just in white on navy blue, they wore gold on navy blue on No 1 dress too. Red on Navy? I'm still trying to get a definitive answer on that one!

The white on blue was no2 dress. Red on blue was booties. No1 dress was the same as the rest of the navy. Overalls were white officer type.
