Default Richard III Re-interment

RE-INTERMENT OF HIS LATE MAJESTY KING RICHARD III

This taken from R.Anglian web page.

The Secretary of State has agreed that the Army are to support this event which is not a State Funeral but one requiring ‘great dignity and honour’. The ceremony will be broadcast live, world-wide. Because this is not a State Funeral the Secretary of State has agreed that the event is to be supported by those English Regiments whose soldiers are drawn from the former fiefdoms of those who fought for King Richard III, (Norfolk, Surrey and Northumberland) – those of the present day Queen’s Division.

HRH, Richard, Duke of Gloucester, our Colonel in Chief is due to attend. The Band of the Queens Division is to support the events. No 2 Company of the 3rd Battalion is providing logistic support. The 3rd Battalion is providing an Officer, a senior non-commissioned officer and ten soldiers as step liners for the re-interment service. The 2nd Bn is providing two senior non-commissioned officers as pall bearers. Members of the Regimental Association are also participating in the events; four will be acting as an Honour Guards.

Hi Norfolk & Sketchy

I saw coverage of the funeral on the TV news in Aussie. l noted the lance guard and must assume that it was QRL as they are at Catterick and 9th/12th L are I believe still in Germany, hence the amalgamation wont occurr until they return to UK later this year.

Regards

Phil

The Motto strikes again !!

The local Cadet Force is 9th/12th. (Hinckley/Leics. and as we are only
about 5 miles from Bosworth I think they had the honour.
