Default 129th Bn CEF and neatest packaging ever seen

I thought I would share with the forum, my latest acquisition. This cap badge came with some other odds and ends I just took delivery of.

The other items were a single BWM, named to an original member of the Bn, a bronze plaque and a silver cross.

What struck me as so interesting is the way it was packaged, I will let the photos do most of the talking.

Here are a couple of photos of the badge, the first two are as opened. The second two are after removing the left over polish and the removal of the wire from the lugs.

As this is a badge forum, I will not bore the group with the BWM, Plaque and Memorial Cross.

This reminds me of a show in Southern Alberta where a fellow had reproduction WW2 German badges packaged up like this, cardboard backing with plastic bubble, the badges were of very good manufacture with excellent details and had been aged with tarnish and rust.

The package had the details of the unit, there were not repackaged, but had come from some source made somewhere. Very convincing, I kick myself for not buying one just to keep as a reference.

That is an interesting way to do things Mike, I would love to see something that. I have nothing to do with German items so one could jump up and bite me on the backside and I wouldn't even know it.

I thought I would post this quick photo of the group as it stands. I am very happy with this grouping and cannot wait for the LAC to get off the rearends and get the service records on line.

The 129th Battalion badge is unique in that it did not include the Tudor crown.

Holy poop Bill, I never noticed that it lacks a crown. When you say unique, is that to mean the 129th is the only Battalion to not incorporate the Crown in its design?

Hi Cliff, It is one of a few battalion badges that have no crown. (48th Highlanders/15th Battalion, 75th Bn, etc.)

Thanks Bill, sometimes I amaze myself at how silly my questions are. I honestly think I am losing my flipping mind.

Hey Cliff, Like the old saying, there are no silly questions, just silly answers...
