Hi George, I hate it when someone answers a legit question even though they do not have an answer to it, however in this instance I'll do that myself.
This is not a Military badge or button, at least not one I've ever seen. So it's probably a school. If you can find where your Grandfather went to (probably a private) school that may answer your question. Also depending on his Regiment there may be some clue to why this is significant enough to keep with his medals. Good luck. |

Many thanks
Many thanks for your prompt reply. I have several other badges that I would like clarification of. My grandfather joined the Royal Navy in 1914 and served for the duration of the First World War. He was discharged in 1939 on health grounds as a Master at Arms.

Hi George,
An interesting medal. Does it have an inscription on the back? Medals like these were awarded for regatta events eg. rowing. Cheers, Tinto |

With the added Naval information, Most likely a Rowing Club 'SRC'.

Considering the design of the S , which looks like track, I'd hazard a guess that it was railway related.

lt looks like being made of silver. Could it be his initials?
Or perhaps the RC referring to a Rifle Club? GTB |
