Default Gurkha badges: 1st and 11th?

Two Gurkha badges. The first one is a cap badge to the 1st Regiment, the second one is a sweetheart or possibly a tie pin of the 11th Regiment, or just a generic Gurkhas commemorative badge in silver. I can't really understand the purpose of the chain and hook, though...

Hi,

I'm no expert so please wait for the more experienced Gurkha badge experts to weight in but the lack of voiding in the first badge remind me of copies I have seen.

The chain on the other badge is normally a safely device to avoid it being lost. The term 'belt & braces' comes to mind.

Hope this helps.

Cheerio,

Roy

Hi Loupie - the 1st is a copy and you can see several similar examples on e bay. As Roy says the "tell" is the lack of voiding at the bottom of the POW feathers. The second badge is probably a sweetheart brooch - and difficult to determine the age but looks of recent manufacture - nothing to do with the 11th though. Tim
